Shock, Horror and the Power of Three!

The power of threeRecently, I made yet another important discovery. As a result, I want to put to you a compelling question, and then suggest a unique idea. Here's the question I want you to think about. Today, is your main website the worst possible vehicle with which to promote your product or service within search engines and web directories, IF you want to use Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or free promotion methods? Yes, I know, it's a scary and highly contentious and possibly dangerous question to ask - perhaps!

I'm well aware that what I'm asking above may also question the true value of your main website, and that this idea goes against commonly held beliefs.

Yet I urge you to stay with me. The key points above and much more, are addressed within this article, then you'll also understand my reasoning for what I'm about to suggest.

Leaving aside Internet marketing aspects for now, any website needs to have at least 3 main components:

  • Look and feel (branding).
  • Functionality.
  • Content.

That said, let's begin.

Brian Austin - Now In The Cast Of Charmed?

Honest folks, even though our recent Internet connection problems with BT - our valued Internet access provider - have, shall we say, challenged us, I really haven't "flipped" yet, with kilt and sporran swinging wildly in the wind amid the wonderful Scottish glens where we're privileged to live. Not yet, at least :-)

Plus, the above, perhaps curious, title might suggest to you that I've been invited to take part in "that wonderful US TV series" (my teenage daughter's words, not mine) known as Charmed, in which three rather beautiful witches constantly right many wrongs!

The truth is, I haven't been asked - at least not yet :-)

So no, it's official: today, at least :-) your esteemed editor is not magically being "upgraded" into a gorgeous witch. He seems quite comfortable in his own body profile. Besides, he hasn't got the looks, his acting ability is seriously challenged, his legs are way too hairy, and don't lets even start discussing the knees :-)

Instead, I want to share with you a far more interesting and relevant idea.

Search Engines: The Holy Grail of Getting Listed In The Top Ten

People constantly ask me essentially the same question:

How do I get my website listed high in the search engines without paying anything to anyone, just using web design techniques?.

My first answer to that is, several years ago, sure, you could achieve that goal with smart web design alone. I can say that in all honesty simply because I've done it - repeatedly.

Today however, I doubt that such a goal is possible in the search engines and web directories that matter (the top 15 - 20, plus optionally, a few specialized directories).

Having said that, I'm convinced people will still be able to do reach the top 20 - sometimes. Also, of course, anything may be possible to achieve using questionable techniques. However, here at InternetTIPS.com, we don't subscribe to, or recommend that anyone in this smart group use unethical approaches in an attempt to try and trick search engines. Besides, there are other, better ways to make your web business successful.

Such approaches are way too risky and you simply don't need to do that today. This article outlines one strategy that stands a good to high chance of getting a Top-10 listing using a little-known method and can do so by fair means.

Yet, with millions of web pages often competing for the same keywords and only 10 - 20 places available, logic would state that a Top-10 listing is a never-ending battle ...

... or that we have little chance ...

... or that we need hundreds, possible thousands of high quality, carefully created, keyword-rich web pages.

Maybe so. Yet maybe our goal can be easier than you might think, if you use the correct approaches.

Yet ...

... on several occasions in the past, I've reached the Top-10 goal on websites with only a few carefully designed web pages. Sometimes to prove a point; other times for commercial reasons and to meet client goals.

Each time, the approach I used was different to previous methods. Why? Simple, the age-old rule applies: what is relevant today, may not work tomorrow.

... the key hint of this article: do something different to most everyone else and have a smart strategy that makes sense to you.

I adapted my approach to the needs of the day, and that is the key hint of this article: do something different to most everyone else and have a smart strategy that makes sense to you. Whatever you, most importantly, you have got to understand what is happening. If what you're doing doesn't make sense to you, either find out why, don't do it, or do something different.

Also, the methods I've used previously have always been what I would consider to be ethical. In other words, I've used no tricks, no deceit, and above all always observed the rules that a search engine makes.

My view is that life is far too short to do otherwise - plus, in my experience, the plans that I used simply worked.

Each plan had seven basic stages:

  1. Research.
  2. Testing.
  3. Taking action based on the results of your testing phase .
  4. Measure the effects of Step 3.
  5. Modify where necessary.
  6. Measure the effects of the last set of changes.
  7. Repeating Steps 5 and 6, until ...
  8. Bulls eye - leave everything exactly as it is.

The sequence may seem deceptively obvious and entirely logical when read here. Yet, there's more ...

Why Pay-Per-Click Web Advertising May Provide All You Need To Promote A Website

Today, without doubt, and especially if you're starting to seek building a profitable and successful web presence from scratch, probably the best option to promote a website, is to learn how to use Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising.

Why? PPC is simply a great deal, it's quick to implement, and you get feedback fast. I suggest using PPC as the main "promotional vehicle" for your main website.

Nevertheless, PPC can be a double-edged sword. So I want to stress that if you start dabbling with PPC, take the time to learn the topic. Why? Those who are amazingly successful in this area tell me that it is both an art and a science. As I'm smart enough to listen to experts within a niche area, I believe them and simply accept what I'm told unless the results dictate otherwise.

Even though the PPC is probably the best open secret around, you can still lose a bundle if you don't work it right. Just ask Perry Marshall - without doubt, one of the best teaching sources around on this incredibly important topic.

Some months ago, I made a smart investment: Perry Marshall's Google AdWords: The Definitive Guide - I wasn't disappointed

However, now we can discover how to apply the power of three. The rest of this article may contain some of the most important information you'll ever read.

What I'm going to suggest is quick, it's easy and it's doable for most people.

Now - let's have some fun. Enjoy:
