Drawbacks

  • To use the AutoArticles 3000 Component, you'll need a Joomla-powered website. However, Joomla is available free.
  • You'll also need some basic knowledge or familiarity with Joomla. Yet, this website and many other sites can teach you all your need to know about Joomla.
  • Articles are provided by the original authors. Nonetheless, some articles may still not be formatted correctly. For example, a badly formatted article may appear as one continuous display of text rather than correctly separated into paragraphs with headings and sub-headings. However, the articles are made freely available by the authors and I think you'll agree, are much appreciated. Therefore, since the key value is in the knowledge an article shares with us, I suggest that we can choose to make allowances if article formatting is not quite up to our expected standard on this occasion.
  • You can't claim authorship of any article.
  • You can't edit any of the articles.

Here, we outline how to link AutoArticles 3000 to your Website Menu. Once you have installed AutoArticles 3000, to make the articles visible or easily accessible to your website users, you'll need to connect the AutoArticles 3000 Component to your menu. In this example, since the "mainmenu" is the most likely area, we'll use that to illustrate this final step.

  • To add AutoArticles 3000 to your main menu, in your Joomla website administration screen, from the top horizontal menu, choose "Menu > mainmenu".
  • From the top right bank of buttons, choose the "New" button.
  • On the right side "Components" section, choose the "Component" link / option button.
  • In the "Name" box, type a name for your new navigation button. For example, you could use "Articles", "Articles 3000", "Bonus Articles" or "230 Articles".

Tip: keep the name you choose meaningful but as short as possible.
  • In the "Component" list, choose / select "AutoArticles 3000".
  • In the "Parent Item" list, choose where you want your new navigation button to be installed. Naturally, every unique website is different. For our website, an ideal location might be to install this new button under the "Departments" button on the top deck of our main site navigation bar at the top of the screen. Therefore, in this instance, for the "Parent Item" we would choose "Departments".
  • Next, you'll need to check and if required change the access permissions or "Access Level" for this new navigation button. By default, "Access Level" is set to "Public" - that means, everyone can access the button and therefore the AutoArticles 3000 Component. If you want to set the Component so that only registered subscribers can access and view the articles, then you would set the Access Level to "Registered".
  • Now you can decide whether you want to publish your new button and therefore provide access to the 230 articles. By default, the "Published" option is set to "Yes". If you don't want to make your new navigation button visible yet, then set the "Published" option to "No". Later, when you're ready, you can come and set this option to "Yes".
  • From the top right side, choose the "Save" button to save your settings.
  • (Optional): if your website uses a cache memory to speed up display of pages, perform Step 10, otherwise go to Step 11. To ensure that you can see the latest changes, you may want to empty the cache. If you're using the default Joomla cache, in your Joomla website Admin / Control panel, on the top main horizontal navigation menu, you can go to "System > Clean All Caches" to empty the cache. If you're using an InternetTIPS.com designed website that uses the blazing fast "JRE - Cache Extended", go to "Components > More Components", then choose "JRE - Cache Extended", click "Clean the cache repository", followed by "Click here to delete all cache files within the cache repository".
  • Now display or go to your live website (front end). Navigate to where you have installed the new button to access your articles and verify that the button is displayed as you have instructed through your settings.

Tip: to force your web browser to display the latest version of your web page, choose the Refresh or Reload button or command in your web browser.

Tip: if after refreshing or reloading the page, you still can't see your new button, carry out the instructions in Step 10 above, then choose the Refresh or Reload button again.
  • Click the new site navigation button or link to display your AutoArticles 3000 articles.
