Tip 01 to Tip 10 In Our Series Of Web Page Creation Tips, Techniques, And Short-Cuts To Help You Create Top Performing Web Pages That Consider People, Search Engines, And The Mobile Web, Especially Useful When You Have A Joomla-Powered Website

Tip 01: Use Responsive Web Designs

Whenever possible, choose or upgrade to using a "responsive web design" template. Why: responsive web designs are designed to adjust themselves automatically to work well on mobile devices like smart phones, iphones, Blackberry, and tablet computers like iPads, and desktop computers like Windows PCs and Apple Macs. Responsive websites present less web code to search engines thearby reducing the indexing costs for Google, Yahoo, Bing, and others.

Tip 02: Take Your Time

Never rush creating your web pages. Rushing usually leads to embarrassing mistakes. Give yourself the time you need to excel. Your web pages should be created within an environment of calmness.

Tip 03: Use Awarness To Fix Mistakes Quickly And Easily

If you make a mistake, first, don't panic or take a sudden, knee-jerk reaction. Second, look for an "Undo" button or command within your page editor and try using that to get back to the position you were in before you made your mistake. One mouse click and your problem can be fixed instantly - but only if you first pause, then choose Undo.

Tip 04: Avoid Word Processing Application Software To Create Your Web Page Content

Think twice before using popular word processing software to create your web page text source content. Why: when you copy and paste in your content from your application, unless you strip out the text in Windows Notepad, or use another plain text editor (also requiring more unnecessary work), most likely, lots of often problematic, unnecessary, additional hidden code will almost certainly get copied over too, loading your draft web pages badly.

For search engines to quickly and easily understand your web pages, any unnecessary content needs to be removed. You just want to enter some properly formatted text, one or more graphics graphics, perhaps a video, but let your Joomla system and web page editor create the actual web page code. Deleting hidden gibberish is harder to do once the nonsense is inside your web page editor window but maybe still hidden. Far better to not copy over hidden gibberish in the first place.

Also, having more unnecessary code means you'll have slower loading pages; introducing possible new security holes; erratic and unexpected effects that can take hours or days to find the cause.

Therefore, Why create extra work for yourself? Instead, take the simple and direct option by typing in your material directly into your web page editor, once only without any need for copying and pasting. How: check out the following tip.

Tip 05: Create Your Web Pages Using Your WYSIWYG Web Page Editor

There is no reason why you can't write your web page text content at source straight into your web page editor window. You can stop and start whenever you want, save your draft web page, then mark the page as "unpublished". When your new page is ready to go live, simply mark the page as "published".

Tip 06: You Don't Need To Be A Web Expert To Create High Quality Web Pages

When using a WYSIWYG web page editor such the superb JCE Joomla Content Editor, you don't actually need to know much about HTML. Nevertheless, there are a few tags worth knowing about just in case you get stuck any time.

There are probably fewer than 10 simple HTML tags that you'll need to know about for the 95% of your content page creation. The most important of these include: the headings tags (H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6), paragraph tag, boldface tag, italics tag, hyperlink tag, image tag, image tooltip title tag, and the DIV tag (rarely needed).

Tip 07: Make Sure That Each Website Content Page Has Only One H1 Heading

Using an editor like JCE referred to above, you can convert any text or paragraph to a H1 heading with a couple of mouse clicks or taps on a tablet computer, using the option listed in the Format drop-down list.

Tip 08: How To Identify A Correctly Formatted Main Heading For A High Quality Web Page

Another way to identify H1 text heading is that when you examine a page using code view or "toggle editor", each H1 heading starts with an opening H1 tag and ends with a closing H1 tag. In most Joomla websites we create, we ensure that the H1 tag is automatically created when you enter a title for your page in the WYSIWYG page title box.

Tip 09: Include One Or More H2 Sub-Headings

Each web content page should also have one or more H2 headings - as many as required. Headings help people make sense of a page, and correctly formatted headings help search engines do the same.

A H2 heading fits under an H1 heading. Each H2 heading starts with an opening H2 tag and ends with a closing H2 tag.

Yet when using the JCE WYSIWYG editor, you don't need to know the exact HTML syntax to use: just type some text that you want to specify as a H2 heading, press the ENTER key, then go back and click in the "Format" drop-down box and choose "Heading 2" or "H2". Your H2 heading text is then automatically formatted with all the properties of H2 as defined in the main website stylesheet.

Tip 10: Include H3 Sub-Headings As Required

Each content page can have one or more h3 headings, as many as required. A H3 heading fits "under" an H2 heading, not a H1 heading. Each H3 heading starts with an opening H3 tag and ends with a closing H3 tag.
